SAIC is seeking a junior Communications Associate to serve within the NORAD/NORTHCOM NITES contract. Communications Associates in the NITES team contribute to the development of technical documentation by editing, proofreading and providing writing support to the conceptualization, layout and preparation of high quality graphics, text, and templates, and the design, preparation, and creation of new media projects on non-technical and/or technical documents or sections of documents prepared by writers such as manuals, procedures and specifications.

Responsibilities include checking drafts for format, clarity and overall cohesiveness. Ensuring documents meet editorial and government specifications and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style. Responsibilities include producing and/or revising technical articles, publications, books, manuals, reports, and determining project requirements and presenting drafts of finished product to the user ensuring high quality of output. Candidate may also design and develop multimedia applications, systems and products involving computer.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • HS + 2 years experience
  • Candidate must have excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidates must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team by regularly interfacing with a wide range of Civilian and Military personnel.
  • Candidate must demonstrate an intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Desired Skills:

  • Candidates who are MS Office Specialist (MOS) certified will be given prime consideration.
  • Candidates who demonstrate intermediate or advanced proficiency in MS SharePoint will be given prime consideration.
  • Candidates with DoD or Military writing experience are highly desired.

Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
