SAIC is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Associate in Crane, IN.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a motivated, entry-level Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and testing of maritime tactical communication and C2 systems. The ideal candidate will apply their academic foundation in mechanical engineering to real-world mission hardware, working closely under the mentorship of senior engineers to deliver ruggedized solutions for the Warfighter.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems for tactical applications
  • Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks) to produce 2D and 2D designs, assembly drawings, and part drawings.
  • Support the construction and testing of mechanical prototypes and test beds.
  • Assist in preparing Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Bills of Materials (BOMs), and other engineering documentation.
  • Support product testing and validation efforts to ensure quality and performance standards are met against environmental constraints.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on received mechanical parts.
  • Assist in troubleshooting existing product designs and collaborate with document control to manage design records.
  • Perform other engineering and administrative duties as assigned in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline and zero years of experience.
  • Solid academic foundation in fundamental mechanical engineering principles (e.g., statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, materials).
  • Comfortable working in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software solutions to create and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Willingness to learn and apply military standards and drafting standards
  • Good oral and written communication
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skill, attention to detail and operate effectively in a busy work environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Interim secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with academic or extracurricular engineering projects demonstrating prototyping and fabrication skills
  • Basic understanding of developing specifications for selecting/procuring components, conducting cost analysis, or evaluating vendor proposals
  • Interest or basic experience in troubleshooting hardware issues or developing technical documentation for end-users.
