Description

SAIC is seeking a Technical Documentation Specialist to to support the development and maintenance of high-quality technical materials in Crane, IN.

This role includes researching, collecting, analyzing, and organizing technical information while ensuring all documentation adheres to government specifications for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Editing and formatting technical documents
  • Creating and manipulating graphics and illustrations
  • Providing desktop publishing support
  • Participating in project and review meetings
  • Maintaining organized records
  • Performing clerical and administrative duties, and
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including technical writers, engineers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in a related discipline and 5 years of related experience. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance; Interim Secret needed to start
    Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Proficiency using: Arbortext Editor, XML Schema and development of XML files, Desktop Publishing with abilities to create and update tables, to create and manipulate graphics and drawings, to create and update flowcharts, and to format/layout text, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with DoD industry
  • Understanding of DoD policies and standards such as MIL-STD-3001, MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-38784, and S1000D
  • Support potential travel at approximately 20%

  • Government Publishing Office (GPO) Style Manual
  • Integrated Air Defense System (IADS)
  • PDF-XChange Editor
  • ASD-STE100, Simplified Technical English (STE)
  • Provisioning data
  • Configuration management principles and best practices
  • Understanding, interpreting, and synthesizing engineering drawings, technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with engineers, and other available sources
  • Technical Publication Deficiency Reports, Interim Rapid Action Change (IRACS), familiarity with Navy and Marine technical systems e.g. Naval Air Technical Data and Engineering Service Command (NATEC), Joint Data Management Information and Control System (JDMICS), Joint Deficiency Reporting System (JDRS), and IPDM
  • Proficient using: Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator
