SAIC is looking for a Physicist to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support airborne lot testing and space applications, including programming files and assisting with vibration testing
  • Become proficient in battery test methods, including monitoring points, switching, circuit protections, wattage management, and time correlation
  • Apply practical physicist application focus to engineering tasks, avoiding theoretical approaches
  • Conduct Big Data analysis to obtain predictive analysis, identify indicators of known and emerging failure modes, and better predict end-of-life characteristics of lithium-ion aircraft and space cells/batteries, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of various battery chemistries
  • Assist other analysts in utilizing analytic platforms as needed
  • Present findings, approaches, and processes to team members

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 or more years of experience, or a Master's degree and zero.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of personnel; able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interim Secret clearance required to start, with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the process
  • US Citizenship

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in LabView, MatLab, and C++ - Prior experience supporting DoD and/or NSWC Crane
  • Strong Computer Science skills to develop and maintain data pipelines using Power BI, R, Python, SQL, etc., and implement quality control checks
  • Experience with GitHub and Microsoft DevOps for version control of code
  • Ability to apply practical physicist and electrical engineering skills to testing tasks
