Smithville Communications — Indiana’s trusted, locally owned provider of Internet, Voice, Security, and Enterprise data services — is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sales Engineer to provide technical and consultative support to the Sales team, helping design and deliver solutions that meet customer needs and drive revenue growth. This role partners with customers and internal teams to develop solution designs, support sales efforts, and contribute to successful project delivery.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Engage with customers to understand business and technical requirements
- Develop and present solution designs, proposals, and technical recommendations
- Support the sales cycle, including presentations, bids, and technical responses
- Provide consultative design support and assist with projects like site assessments and buildouts
- Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams
- Create and deliver sales training and provide ongoing coaching
- Offer guidance to installation teams and support successful implementations
- Travel locally as needed for customer meetings and project support
WHAT YOU BRING
- Technical degree or equivalent experience in Telecommunications or Information Systems
- 3+ years of technical sales support experience
- Knowledge of networking technologies (IP, routing/switching, GPON, VOIP)
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with customers and CRM tools
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Primarily office-based with occasional on-site customer visits
- Standard full-time schedule with flexibility for business needs
- Up to 50% local travel
