Job purpose

  • The primary purpose of this position is to design, develop, and maintain critical enterprise web solutions for TGNA, focusing heavily on PHP programming and SQL development for applications like the MyTasus platform. This includes creating robust web-based data entry forms, reports, and SQL scripts to support business operations.
  • The ideal individual is a self-directed problem-solver with strong interpersonal skills and a focus on organizing software projects with attention to detail. This role involves close collaboration with Senior Developers and business stakeholders to transform requirements into detailed technical specifications, task documentation, and implemented solutions.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional business stakeholders to analyze and document software requirements, including detailed review and description of current user work processes.
  • Develop, test, and implement high-quality code, primarily in PHP and other languages as needed, ensuring solutions adhere to IT standards and styles through peer code reviews.
  • Manage and resolve programming tickets from the Helpdesk, assisting customers and researching potential solutions to meet defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Utilize Git for source control management, including code branching, merging, and pull requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science, Informatics or Computer Science from a Regionally Accredited University or College, or equivalent of a college degree and experience.
  • Must possess at least 2 years of programming experience in terms of application development.
  • Experience developing and optimizing complex SQL queries and stored procedures, preferably in MS SQL Server and OpenEdge Progress.
  • Working knowledge of modern front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Vue.js.
  • Required knowledge of or experience with the Laravel PHP Framework.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in end-user application support.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, for conducting user training on new programs and gathering requirements from business stakeholders.
