Description
TRISTAR is seeking a Network Engineer for our government customer in Bloomington, IN
- We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Network Engineer with strong technical and soft skills to join our team
- This individual will support our CAC2S Network, a critical system that acts as an adaptation layer between a constantly evolving software baseline and a variety of hardware platforms
- This role involves continuous coordination with engineers and stakeholders across multiple disciplines and organizations, as well as managing external interfaces with other programs
- The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical knowledge, strong imitative, and excellent communication skills to ensure the smooth operation of the network
- The ability to troubleshoot, learn new skills quickly, and adapt to new technologies is crucial to success in this role
Position Responsibilities
- Coordinate with stakeholders across the country, ensuring seamless collaboration between different teams and external programs
- Manage network configurations and troubleshoot issues in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Support the continuous evolution of the network, experimenting with and researching new technologies as needed
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to implement best practices in testing, security, and system operation
- Understand how the system will be employed by operating forces units and apply this knowledge to network design and problem-solving
- Apply knowledge of Defense Acquisition, systems engineering, and configuration management processes
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, with strong expertise in routing and switching
- CCNA certification or equivalent experience in network engineering
- Familiarity with network interface architectures, tools, and methodologies across operating systems like Windows and Linux
- Understanding of Cybersecurity threats and defenses
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues
- Basic understanding of Defense Acquisition and formal systems engineering processes
- Experience with physical hardware, along with hardware and software testing methods, tools, and procedures
- Strong people skills to work effectively with stakeholders across various disciplines
- Self-driven with the ability to work without constant supervision
- MUST be a US Citizen
- Must possess active DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one
Education and/or Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Must have or be able to obtain a CompTIA Security Plus certification prior to start date
