Description
TRISTAR is seeking a Systems Administrator II for our government customer in Bloomington, IN
- Work independently to provide quality solutions
- This position will include supporting system integration, troubleshooting, patching, configuration management, conducting thorough testing, STIG implementation, and maintaining hardware/software
- The ideal candidate will have expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining systems in physical environments, with a focus on optimizing performance and security
Position Responsibilities
- Software Integration: Collaborate with team to ensure compatibility
- Perform system and application upgrades and updates to ensure optimal performance. Analyze, plan, and integrate new software into existing systems
- Updating Software: Regularly update operating systems, server software, and application software
- Manage and implement patches, fixes, and security updates. Maintain version control and documentation of all updates
- System Builds: Plan, design, and build new system environments
- Configure and customize software components as required
- Testing System Builds: Conduct comprehensive testing of system builds to ensure functionality, security, and compatibility
- Perform system validation, including performance benchmarks, stress test, and load tests
- System Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor system performance, ensuring optimal uptime and responsiveness
- Proactively identify and troubleshoot issues related to hardware and software
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of system configuration, changes, and maintenance activities
- Create and update technical documentation and user guides
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional team
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members
Requirements
- 3-5 years experience in systems administration, with focus on software integration and system builds
- Proficiency with Windows, and Linux operating systems
- Experience with visualization technologies (VMWare)
- Strong understanding of network configurations, protocols, and security best practices
- Knowledge of automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
- MUST be a US Citizen
- Must have active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one
Education and/or Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Must have or be able to obtain a CompTIA Security Plus certification prior to start date
