We're Hiring A Director Underwriting Strategy at True Rx Health Strategists

Are you ready to use your financial expertise to make a real impact in healthcare? At True Rx Health Strategists, we’re seeking a Director Underwriting Strategy to join our growing team. This is a high-impact role where you’ll bring advanced underwriting and financial strategy expertise to help employer groups, health systems, TPAs, and consultants design smarter pharmacy benefit solutions.

100% remote with in-office requirements as needed for training and meetings.

What You’ll Do:

Strategic Underwriting & Risk Analysis

• Review and guide underwriting analysis of pharmacy benefit programs, including trend projections, risk modeling, plan design, and utilization review.
• Evaluate complex RFPs and renewal requests, developing competitive and sustainable financial proposals.
• Assess client risk profiles and provide recommendations that balance cost management with clinical outcomes.

Consultative Client Engagement

• Serve as a strategic advisor to True Rx for large national and regional broker/consulting firms, building trust through insights, transparency, and thought leadership.
• Partner with sales, account management, and clinical teams to deliver balanced financial strategies aligned with client goals.
• Present underwriting findings and strategies in a clear, compelling way to consultant and client audiences, including C-suite executives.

Market & Product Strategy

• Monitor PBM and pharmacy market trends, competitor pricing, and regulatory changes to inform underwriting strategy.
• Collaborate with internal teams on product development, value-based contracting, and specialty drug management approaches.
• Provide consultative input into pricing strategy, ensuring alignment with both market competitiveness and profitability.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Partner with proposal, contracting, finance, and clinical teams to ensure RFPs are accurate and correctly translated to underwritings and contracts.
• Collaborate with business development and strategy leaders to shape go-to-market approaches for large, complex clients.
• Contribute to thought leadership efforts, such as white papers, webinars, and presentations to the consulting community.

What You Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Pharmacy, or related field (Master’s preferred).

• 5+ years of underwriting, actuarial, or financial strategy experience in PBM, health plan, payer, or healthcare consulting.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy benefit design, drug pricing, and specialty pharmacy trends.
• Experience working with large brokers and consultants (e.g., Mercer, Aon, WTW, Gallagher, Lockton) strongly preferred.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills with a keen eye for strategy and detail.
